Meet The Dude, The Host of Star Studios!
If you flip on Channel 13 on any TV in the Children’s hospital rooms, you’ll see a lot of action. On Wednesdays, kids are calling in to play Bilingual Bingo. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, patients are rocking out in a studio Sing-Along. And almost every day, you can catch The Dude hosting shows and brightening kids’ days.
CHA is proud to pledge to Star Studios, Children’s Minnesota’s in-house, live television network. Many children and families experience anxiety, isolation, and fear while they are hospitalized. Star Studio broadcasts programs developed to cheer up and engage patients. It’s popular across the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses. Last year, over 3,000 kids and their family members watched programs live in the Star Studios.
The Dude has been the face of Star Studio for more than twelve years, and his energy is infectious. His favorite activities are playing old school video games, mixing two different breakfast cereals to find the perfect new combination (eventually to start a food truck based on his findings), taking naps, and hosting TV shows. One day, he wants to fill in for Ellen, “Like, if she ever goes on a long vacation or something.”
The Dude says he’s very thankful for all that CHA has done for Star Studio for the past two years and looks forward to the future. If you want to catch the Star Studio team in action, you can see them hosting at the Westside Guild’s Art with Heart. You’ll get a chance to meet The Dude (and his surprise co-host!) while enjoying the art silent auction.
