How donors help Minnesota families find support in overwhelming moments

Minnesota Mother sits beside young child in hospital bed, offering comfort during a pediatric healthcare visit.

Your gift to Children’s Hospital Association of St. Paul supports First Steps at Children’s Minnesota, helping new parents navigate care, resources, and complex systems with confidence.

Rosa* had just brought home her newborn twins.

She was learning how to care for two babies at once, running on little sleep, and doing everything she could to keep up. Then she discovered something was wrong.

One of her babies had the wrong last name on their birth certificate.

What should have been a simple fix did not feel simple at all.

For a new mom already navigating life with two newborns, the mistake felt overwhelming. Rosa worried it might cost more than her family could afford. She was also navigating the process in a language that is not her first, and it felt like one more thing she could not manage alone. It felt like too much.

But because of donor support through the Children’s Hospital Association of St. Paul, Rosa did not have to figure it out by herself.

CHAStPaul helps fund programs at Children’s Minnesota that provide wrap-around support for pediatric patients and families across Minnesota. Through programs like First Steps, families can connect with trusted experts who help them navigate complex systems, access services, and move forward with confidence.

When a First Steps team member reached out to Rosa, everything began to change.

They listened to her concerns. They understood what she was facing. And most importantly, they knew how to help.

Rosa was quickly connected with the right agency and guided step by step through the process. The error was corrected quickly and at no cost to her family.

What once felt overwhelming became manageable.

Because of you, Rosa could take a breath. She could focus on what mattered most, caring for her babies and settling into life as a new mom.

This is the impact of your generosity.

You help families overcome barriers.

You turn confusion into clarity.

You make sure parents like Rosa feel supported, not alone.

And in moments that feel overwhelming, you help make everything feel possible again.

Your gift helps ensure more families at Children’s Minnesota can access compassionate guidance, practical resources, and holistic care when they need it most.

Thank you for making this kind of care and connection available for families in Minnesota and beyond.
